Join us for this exclusive preview of the Robert Marc Eyewear Winter 2009-2010 Collection. Shawn, the representative for Robert Marc, honored us by showing us the new styles coming out the very same day that he himself received his samples. And these great new sunglasses and eyeglasses won’t even be available until November!
We start with Shawn giving us a little background info on Robert Marc and how his frames are made. Learn about how Robert Marc keeps his quality so high and what the inspiration is for the signature buckle on his hinge. And finally, Alex and Mark of SF Optics guide you through some of the new frame styles and colors, highlighting some of their favorites.
Robert Marc sunglasses and eyeglasses are a celebrity favorite and the brand really is the ‘Chanel’ of high end boutique eyewear. For the true eyewear connoisseur, Robert Marc is the quality and fashion for you.
Rachel Griffiths, who stars as Sarah Whedon on the hit ABC drama “Brothers & Sisters,” wearing Robert Marc model 546. This classic style looks great on her. Sophisticated and chic!
Currently, this frame is available in four colors:
Paul Smith’s PS-3008 is a perfect replacement for the DISCONTINUED Beausoleil S/212 that Kyra Sedgwick wears on ‘The Closer.’ Not only is it similar, but its even better, and its available for online ordering!
So, we have been getting a ton of email inquiries about Kyra Sedgwick’s sunglasses on ‘The Closer,’ and a little web analytics has revealed many hits on our site for people searching for this frame. So we are going to do what we do best and give you the inside scoop on your favorite eyewear.
The frame that Kyra is wearing is a sunglass by Frederic Beausoleil, model S/212. Frederic Beausoleil is a French eyewear designer. And yes, we do carry his line. The ‘bad’ news is that this frame has been DISCONTINUED; It is no longer available. In fact, we sold the very last one that Beausoleil had.
The GOOD NEWS is that we have put our skills to the test to find the ultimate replacement for you. In the picture above to the right of Kyra in her frame, you can see Paul Smith’s PS-3008. This frame is very similar to the Beausoleil S/212, but perhaps even better .
A ‘closer’ look reveals that the Beausoleil frame Kyra is wearing is in fact slightly to shallow (not enough depth in the frame vertically) and to boxy on the edges. This makes the frame run slightly wide for her face and boxes her up.
On the other hand, the Paul Smith PS-3008 is actually a much more attractive version of Kyra’s frame. You are going for the same look, but with finer details that will accentuate all of your best features. It is slightly narrower and with a little more depth, making it a much better fit size-wise for the average woman. It also has a little more of an outwards angle on the edges which in addition to the slight cat-eye, gives more of an upward lift (very inexpensive face-lift, right?) as opposed to the Beausoleil’s boxiness. The Paul Smith would definitely be a much better fit with its beautiful shape.
Why simply look like Kyra when you can actually look better? Purchase the Paul Smith PS-3008 below.

So the downside is it could take a while for your frame to arrive, but the upside is that by ordering, you are in line to recieve the next available frame based on a first come first serve basis, and you will be one of few people who will have this frame since it is difficult to get.

Bernhard Willhelm, a clothing fashion designer, has joined forces with MYKITA, the couturiers of ultra-light eyewear, to present three mirrored sunglass models to accompany Willhelm’s ski outfits. And who is wearing the aviator-style sheet-metal frames born out of this collaboration? Below is the FRANZ style in Gold as seen on Sarah Jessica Parker, who plays the role of Carrie Bradshaw, filming the upcoming Sex and the City 2 movie in New York City.

The FRANZ model was inspired by and named after legendary downhill champion Franz Klammer.
MYKITA’s new engraved metal frames for Autumn/Winter 2009
MYKITA has a technique for engraving metal frames that is unique within the eyewear sector. The intricate finishing process sets new standards in its field and was developed in-house at MYKITA’s Berlin workshop.
The 2009 autumn/winter collection sees MYKITA launching two new extraordinary engraved patterns: TRELLIS and BEAD. Both designs are reminiscent of the weird and wonderful world of M.C. Escher. The artist’s fascinatingly paradox prints became iconic works of 20th century Pop culture and have been reproduced on everything from posters to T-shirts and even record album covers.
MYKITA model Anna in brown trellis
TRELLIS is a mesh-like design comprising repeated shapes that evoke the geometric pattern of an ice crystal. The interlocking lozenge forms provide a harmonious contrast with the sweeping contours of the frame. TRELLIS is available in the retro-style models Anna and Anton.
MYKITA model Bernhard in black bead
BEAD comprises juxtaposed circles that in their resulting arrangement resemble a Penrose tiling. Bernhard and its little brother Barney feature an enticing contrast between the bold, angular frames and the delicate BEAD engraving design.
Both designs are available in PVD-metallic black and brown finishes (PVD – Physical Vapour Deposition).
BEAD and TRELLIS will be available at SF Optics very soon. Don’t miss our MYKITA trunk show where the MYKITA rep will be present and exclusively showcasing the entire brand new 2009 autumn/winter collection on Saturday, October 17th – Sunday, October 18th.
