Limited Edition Alexander Daas Sunglasses
Anyone who walks a dog every day needs a pair of great-fitting, quality sunglasses, preferably ones with polarized lenses to shield eyes from glare and harmful rays. After years of seeing why customers returned other brands and what people were looking for when they bought glasses at his Chestnut Street store, San Francisco Optics, Alex Feldman decided it was time to put all that knowledge into his own line of high-end eyewear. After three years of development, a limited edition has launched just in time for the holidays (with more sunglasses as well as ophthalmic frames to follow). They fit like a glove, and even the polarized lenses are chic rather than the typical sporty style. San Francisco Optics, 2248 Chestnut Street (near Pierce), 415-922-7500, www.alexanderdaas.com
ALEXANDER DAAS eyewear, along with SF Optics on Chestnut, just got featured on Thrillist on 11/29/2010. ALEXANDER DAAS is our newest eyewear collection, founded and designed by our very own Alex Feldman. The limited edition ‘eye do’ sunglass collection from ALEXANDER DAAS just launched one week ago. TweetThe San Francisco Giants won the 2010 World Series for the first time in the Giants’ 52 year San Francisco history. Today they had their victory parade down Market St. to City Hall where Mayor Gavin Newsom officially handed over the key to the city and county of San Francisco to Giants managing general partner Bill Neukom. Newsom also declared today “San Francisco Giants Day” in the city. The Victory Parade drew crowds of hundreds of thousands of people, many of which camped out all night to get their spot!
At this very special occasion, SF Giants outfielder Pat Burrell a.k.a. Pat the Bat was celebrating in the Barton Perreira Altair sunglasses SF Optics styled him in yesterday! Arriving back straight from Game 5 in Texas, Pat made sure to stop in and get his eyes protected from the UV rays at the sunny Victory Parade.

Pat Burrell is one stylish baseball champion! In fact, just two weeks ago, we also styled him into SALT. Dafoe sunglasses! What can we say – the man has taste!
To recap the last few days, the San Francisco Giants won the World Series and San Francisco has been electric since.
World Series Game 5: After Tim Lincecum a.k.a. “The Freak” and “The Franchise” pitched an amazing 8 innings, Brian Wilson made the Texas Rangers Fear the Beard with a beautiful close in the 9th. Edgar Renteria was the MVP for his three-run homer that finally put some runs on the board. With the SF Giants win in Game 5, they became the new World Series Champions for 2010 with a 4-1 win over the Texas Rangers by method of TORTURE!
Fans crowded the streets of San Francisco to celebrate the win. Thousands of fans celebrated in front of San Francsico Optics on Chestnut St. The television news station cameras were out to capture the insanity and SF Optics cameras did as well. Check out our short 1 minute video clip that shows just how much mayhem was on the street – and the street was packed like that for hours.
Sammy Hagar, The Red Rocker – a rock and roll icon!
Why?
1) He made it to the mainstream as the frontman for one of the biggest American rock bands ever – Van Halen.
2) After over a decade of that, he continues to rock Sans-Halen with his solo band The Waboritas and with his band Chickenfoot.
3) He founded one of the most popular nightclubs / restaurants – Cabo Wabo Cantinas – a favorite spot in Cabo San Lucas, Lake Tahoe, and Las Vegas!
4) He gets you tipsy with his brand of premium tequila – Cabo Wabo Tequila.
5) And finally … he gets styled in his eyewear at SF Optics!
That’s right Red Rocker fans! Sammy Hagar just stopped in and got styled in four new pairs of shades!
If you want to be a Red Rocker, here’s the exclusive low down on Sammy Hagar’s sunglasses:
Sammy Hagar got styled in Salt sunglasses, model Stuart, color Shiny Walnut. The Salt sunglasses are stylish and have great polarized sun lenses. They are great for the beach and other activities when it’s really bright since the polarized lenses cut out a lot of the glare.
Sammy Hagar got styled in Barton Perreira sunglasses, model Altair, color Silver with Eden lenses. The Barton Perreira sunglasses are chic with a trendy modified aviator shape. They are great when you just need a cool pair of sunnies to hang out on the strip and eat some lunch, hit the cafe, or go shopping … or when you’re drinking tequila at Cabo Wabo!
Sammy Hagar got styled in Robert Marc sunglasses, model 743, color 267. The Robert Marc sunglasses are trendy yet elegent. The gradient lenses make them perfect for that not so sunny day. Even when the sun is not bright, you must protect your eyes from the UV, and these lenses are perfect for that!
Sammy Hagar got styled in Persol sunglasses, model 2961s, color 811/31. The Persol sunglasses are a great piece to fill the plastic void. Sammy Hagar obviously appreciates the art of accessorizing, and with the other three sunglasses being metal, the fourth had to be plastic to come full circle. These Persols are a great classic shape and the blonde tortoise rocks with Sammy’s hair!
Tonight, the long awaited Lifetime premiere of “Who is Clark Rockefeller?” starring Eric McCormack as Clark Rockefeller and Sherry Stringfield as his wife and successful business consultant Sandra Boss, aired. But the true star of the movie are the large black thick rimmed plastic glasses worn by Clark Rockefeller.
For those that don’t recall this true story which not too long ago was the big news in the headlines, Christian Karl Gerhartsreiter, a German man who immigrated to the United States in 1979, used many different aliases over the years, Clark Rockefeller being his most recent. For many years, he kept himself in the circle of high society posing as an heir to the Rockefeller name, during which time he married Sandra Boss and had a child with her. During their recent divorce, he kidnapped his daughter, and the truth about his identity came out. He kept up the longest running con known, but now is in prison for the kidnapping, and is under suspicion for a double homicide from the past when he was living under one of his other aliases.
This whole story makes his choice of glasses that much more interesting. The ‘geek chic’ look that he took on with his frames is quite similar to the look of Clark Kent – Superman’s secret identity. And interestingly enough, the name that Christian Karl Gerhartsreiter made up to go along with the famous surname Rockefeller just so happened to be Clark. Was this his way of associating himself with Clark Kent, a master of multiple identities?
Regardless, the geek chic look is definitely one of the biggest fashion trends right now, and Clark Rockefeller found a great use for the Ray-Ban Wayfarer aside from being a sunglass. Pop out those sun lenses and put in a pair of clear lenses, and now your Wayfarer is the ultimate ‘geek chic’ frame. Whether you want to be a hero disguised as a nerd, or a con man disguised as high society wealth, the Ray-Ban Wayfarer can give you that look.
You can purchase the Ray-Ban Wayfarer here.

From pre Oscars primping to presenting awards, two of Hollywood’s hottest male leads were spotted in Oliver Peoples yesterday. Gerard Butler was out in Beverly Hills wearing the Connolly while getting ready for his night at the Oscars. Later in the evening, Robert Downey Jr. stepped out onto the red carpet in Sheldrake Storm Grey with a custom blue tinted lens to compliment the blue in his chic Lanvin ensemble! Robert Downey Jr. also wore the Sheldrake while presenting the award for Best Original Screenplay alongside actress and comedian Tina Fey and even later that night at the infamous Vanity Fair Oscar party. They were inseparable!
Nothing is better to compliment the red carpet than a hot pair of shades!

Lady Gaga does it again and again – scantily clad in sparkly getups. Accompanying her almost at all times are glamorous whimsical frames. 2010′s eyewear trend release a breathe of fresh air. Color, shape, and oomph scream “wear me.”
The Orgreen sunglasses are totally Gaga-licious … large, with sharp angles, and a cat-eye uplift. The Danish designer takes titanium eyewear to the next level with edgy designs and many vibrant fashion forward colors and finishes.
Oliver Peoples has entered the world of suspended metal – hand-laid wire encased in two layers of plastic and remaining visible, resulting in a floating metal wire that appears suspended. You’ll look like a celebrity hiding from the paparazzi in these sunglasses.
Mykita, the handmade German collection, is taking their designs to the next level, entering the world of colorful plastics! Their chic women’s sunglasses are sexy.
For the luxurious type, Gold & Wood’s buffalo and precious metal sunglasses define class.
Or go with the simple and classic Wayfarer from Ray-Ban. Yet again, another rebirth with the newest dual-sided colorful designs displaying adventurous backsides.
As each season changes it’s your chance to step outside of the box and try a new look.
It’s Spring baby, and it’s on!
