MYKITA’s new engraved metal frames for Autumn/Winter 2009
MYKITA has a technique for engraving metal frames that is unique within the eyewear sector. The intricate finishing process sets new standards in its field and was developed in-house at MYKITA’s Berlin workshop.
The 2009 autumn/winter collection sees MYKITA launching two new extraordinary engraved patterns: TRELLIS and BEAD. Both designs are reminiscent of the weird and wonderful world of M.C. Escher. The artist’s fascinatingly paradox prints became iconic works of 20th century Pop culture and have been reproduced on everything from posters to T-shirts and even record album covers.
MYKITA model Anna in brown trellis
TRELLIS is a mesh-like design comprising repeated shapes that evoke the geometric pattern of an ice crystal. The interlocking lozenge forms provide a harmonious contrast with the sweeping contours of the frame. TRELLIS is available in the retro-style models Anna and Anton.
MYKITA model Bernhard in black bead
BEAD comprises juxtaposed circles that in their resulting arrangement resemble a Penrose tiling. Bernhard and its little brother Barney feature an enticing contrast between the bold, angular frames and the delicate BEAD engraving design.
Both designs are available in PVD-metallic black and brown finishes (PVD – Physical Vapour Deposition).
BEAD and TRELLIS will be available at SF Optics very soon. Don’t miss our MYKITA trunk show where the MYKITA rep will be present and exclusively showcasing the entire brand new 2009 autumn/winter collection on Saturday, October 17th – Sunday, October 18th.
SF Optics is now officially an authorized dealer of Orgreen Optics. And when our first stock shipment of their eyeglasses arrived, we were so excited we had to film it.
Michael was off this day, and although it was his misfortune to miss out at getting first glance at this new arrival, he was extremely lucky to not have to participate in some of the embarrasing clips which were taken, like the head nodding.
Orgreen Optics is a funky line out of Denmark. The frames have dual colors on the front and backside and the color palette for the line is diverse and bright. This eyewear collection is made up of titanium frames. Most of the frames are a milled thicker titanium, but there are also beta-titanium pieces in the collection as well.
So after a long time, Orgreen Optics has finally convinced us to put them in our store…well…no, we’ve actually wanted the collection for a while, but just now finally made room in our store to display this incredible eyewear line.
Orgreen eyeglasses are beautiful frames from Denmark, featuring bright colors on modern / edgy frames. The frames have dual colors – a more neutral everyday color on the front side, with a brighter fun color on the backside. This is a great way to make a frame compliment your eyes and make their color stand out more, or compliment your skin and give it more of a radiant glow. They have great temple designs with unique detailed cut outs, but nothing too crazy. And all the frames are titanium … a light weight yet very strong metal material for high end eyewear. Orgreen uses both a milled titanium (a thick titanium that makes the backside colors stand out more from the coloring on the top horizontal surface of the frame front) and beta-titanium (a very thin titanium material that is bendable and has a lot of give, yet is very sturdy and strong. Some of their frames are even a combo of the two – the frame front being milled titanium, and the temples being beta-titanium.
Our rep Rene stopped by for us to look through the selection and pick out new frames. Check out some pictures we took to give you a preview of the line, which at this point has just recently arrived at the store!
You can see Webisode 3 to see the arrival of the frames and us featuring a few of the models.
And come by on Saturday, November 7th from 12-5pm when we will be having our Trunk Show featuring the entire Orgreen collection (and Bevel as well). Rene, the rep for both lines will be at the store to do an exclusive showing of the Fall / Winter collections for both lines which get released just before that trunk show date.
