A Truly Unique Optical Experience
San Francisco OpticsEst. 1979
Wow. The service here is above and beyond anything I have encounter in San Francisco. I Was very exited to speak with the buyer on different brands available in introducing him to one of my favorite eye wear brands. Beyond that the amazingly talented in-house ophthalmic technician was kind enough to fix my glasses without charge I can't wait to be back to purchase reading glasses
This is THE place for glasses. Selection is huge. The stylists know what they're doing; their approach is very craftsman-like, very focused on fit and style. They styled me into two pairs, one Mykita eyeglasses and an Alexander Daas sunglass. My kids thought the motorcycle in the first room was really cool and played on the piano while I shopped.
This is perhaps the best optical shop on the West Coast, and certainly the best in the SF bay area. I've been to several (in SF and LA mostly, though also NYC & Miami). At SF Optics there also is a nice selection of top notch frames too (Lindberg, Mykita, etc.) and apparently they can get almost any frame. The main tech guy there, Don, is extremely competent. For example, most optical places will not measure the pantoscopic tilt nor the vertex when ordering free form lenses, but Don does; this makes a considerable difference in your field of view(s). Also, they know all about the new blue technologies. (And no, I don't know these guys personally, but I am just impressed....)
I am not too good at picking out glasses that look good on me. But, its a good thing that the folks at San Francisco Optics are specialists in that kind of thing. Don suggested a pair of frames that would look good on me, and I approved. I liked his suggestion so much that I picked up a second pair in the same style to be used as prescription sunglasses. I am pleased that I did because they both look great. Thank you!
